Tift County aims to complete the property revaluation appeals process by November 1, allowing local governments to set new tax millage rates. Currently, 4,123 property value appeals represent 11.8% of the tax digest, but the county must reduce this to below 8% before moving forward. Tifton officials hope to issue tax bills by December, with payments due in February. Both city and county leaders plan to roll back millage rates to last year’s levels to offset inflation. The Tift County Board of Education is also awaiting the revaluation process to meet state funding requirements.
