A telephone outage affecting landlines served by TruVista in Tifton and Fitzgerald has continued for a third day. TruVista technicians are working on repairs but cannot provide an estimate for when service will be restored. The outage is impacting local residences, businesses, and organizations, including a domestic violence shelter whose hotline has been disrupted. Several local businesses, such as pharmacies, bakeries, and veterinary clinics, are also affected and have shared alternate contact methods on social media. The situation is significantly impacting business operations.

When I asked my TruVista sales contact about this yesterday (Tuesday), he came back with “no clue” after conferring with the techs there at TruVista. Trouble happens, systems break down, but the lack of communication on what the actual issue is (they seem to not actually know) and the lack of transparency as to the steps being taken to correct the issue is what drives customers to other vendors.

Some information that has been passed along to me: “All incoming calls for the TruVista CLEC customers in Tifton and Fitzgerald will not complete due to a transport outage on Zayo Inc. Network between Albany, GA and Omega, GA. Zayo has posted an update that several issues in Macon, GA were corrected this afternoon but the 10 Gb transport between Macon and Albany is still down. Two Zayo technicians are scheduled to be in Albany, GA tomorrow morning, Aug 28th at 10AM.”
