Last weekend’s Hometown Holidays was canceled due to bad weather, but Tifton is making up for it with a smaller event this Saturday. It starts with special sales downtown at 10 a.m., a theater show at 3 p.m., and a Christmas parade at 5 p.m. that’ll close Main Street for a while. After the parade, there’s a tree lighting at 6:30 p.m., family activities, and food trucks.

The city spent $150,000 on new holiday decorations, including different Christmas lights and banners downtown. Hillery Culpepper, who manages Main Street, is happy about the fresh look, especially the new tree lights at City Hall and fun photo spots downtown.

She’s excited about these changes and wants to make Tifton more inviting for everyone. The new lights were ordered from a company that works with famous places like Dollywood. Culpepper hopes these decorations will spread cheer, even though some parts get vandalized. She feels connected to Tifton and enjoys making the community stronger through her work.
